Take Your Photography to New Heights

Join Mid Sussex Camera Club. Discover What You Can Achieve

MSCC will be hosting fortnightly online speaker events during the summer via Zoom as well as arranging some photographic outings for the summer.

While not yet able to be precise about the make-up of the September 2021 to April 2022 season's programme of events, the aim is for mainly 'live' club evenings, while there are bound to be some held online.

We will update this information as we can.

Are you a photographer who wishes to develop their photography or photographic skills? Mid Sussex Camera Club

The club offers many photography related activities, as well as some purely social events. All activities are optional so members can opt to take part in those elements of the programme that interest them. Activities include:

External Speakers

During each season we invite around a dozen or so photographers who are accomplished in their chosen photographic genre to talk around a selection of their images. These talks are both inspirational and informative.

Internal Workshops

Several times a season an evening is devoted to an internal workshop where we share knowledge and practice particular technical skills. These evenings have featured image mounting, post processing, portraiture and close-up photography.

Monthly Competitions

There are six ranking competitions each season, scored by an external judge, the results of which are cumulative on a league table basis. Competitions are for both projected and printed images. The leagues are split into ability classes.

Standalone Competitions

During each season there are several 'standalone. competitions which have outright winners based on the individual images submitted for that competition. These are judged by an external judge. Themes usually include 'Sussex', 'Nature', or 'Panel'. The finale of the season is the 'Picture of the Year' competition.

External Competitions

MSCC is affiliated to the Sussex Photographic Federation (SxPF), The Surrey Photographic Association (SPA), The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and The Regnum Crouch Group. These provide access to competitions each year, giving members' images a wider audience and a higher level of competition.

Interclub Competitions

Each season we hold interclub competitions with local clubs. Sometimes with is one other club. Each December the contest with Crawley Camera Club and East Grinstead Camera Club. The purpose of these events is to have fun in a photographic environment. The event is refereed by an external judge.

Portrait Group

The club owns high-quality studio equipment which is used by the group to photograph a different model at each session. The Portrait Group meets monthly during the season on a Friday evening.

External Events

During the summer months small group outings are arranged with a member with knowledge of a particular photography location, for example Pulborough Brooks. In the main these outings are mid-week, with the occasional weekend event.

In the Members' Area

The website Members' Area is a rich collection of information including 'how to', 'where to' and 'when to' documents, notices and recordings of external speaker lectures. Access requires that you login as a member.
